Meet Dr. Allison Chisholm
Growing up, Dr. Chisholm idolized her grandfather- a prominent small and large animal veterinarian in their community. Her time spent with him as a child led her to develop a deep love of and appreciation for both medicine and surgery. Her particular interest in Otolaryngology flourished during her medical school training at Temple University School of Medicine. She subsequently completed her residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she decided to pursue further training in Pediatric Otolaryngology. She completed fellowship training at the Children's Medical Center through the University of Texas-Southwestern. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Allison Chisholm was thrilled to join the Cook Children's Otolaryngology team in 2018. "The ability to impact a child's life, and in turn a whole family, has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had as a physician." Dr. Chisholm believes in the importance of practicing evidence based medicine and places an emphasis on listening to and incorporating the individual needs of a patient and their families when developing a plan of care. She treats all Pediatric Otolaryngology patients including those with hearing loss, sinus and skull base disease, airway and voice disorders, and benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck.
Outside of work, Dr. Chisholm enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets-a dog and a cat. She loves the outdoors and staying active and combines these loves whenever possible through running, hiking, swimming, and skiing. She also loves cooking and trying new recipes with her husband. Whenever able, she enjoys traveling to destinations that allow exploration of new places, cultures, food and/or experiences.
My daughter had blood in her ear at the end of the day on a Friday and I ran over in a panic and the secretary, or the receptionist and the ... all the staff, they were so kind and so friendly, and they really tried the best that they could to help us and Dr. Chisholm was fantastic, and she was so understanding, and she hugged me and she could see that I was worried and I just felt so comfortable after the whole process and we got home and I was so thankful and prayed a thousand times thanking God for the wonderful people at Cook Children's and especially Dr. Chisholm. Thank you. – Patient family

Dr. Allison Chisholm ((ENT Surgeon) and Dr. Ayodele Oke (Anesthesiologist) were not only outstanding doctors but also provided the best bedside manner we could have ever expected. This meant so much to us because we sought Dr. Chisholm after having a negative experience with a local ENT.

Dr. Chisolm!!! We were there for my oldest and I mentioned that we would see her the following week for (sibling's) surgery follow up and she offered to save us a trip and just check him. I was very appreciative. Working in an office setting, I personally know that it can alternate the rest of your schedule. So I am very thankful for working him in.

The check in staff when you first arrive, so nice. The nurse who walked us in and took the boys stats, SO nice. The doctor and the child experience coordinator who brought my kids some toys and played with them during the appointment, just so so so nice. Everyone has the best attitude. Also want to recognize Ms.Tammy who scheduled us because she too was just so nice!!!

The attitude of the staff is amazing. I could have been having a bad day and their attitudes would have lifted my spirits. I was slightly anxious walking in because I have 4 year old twins and they are a little much, but the staff just eased everything without even trying. Can't stress enough how nice all of these people are.

We are very grateful for the knowledge that Dr. Chisholm shared with us and her honestly about all possibilities for our child and she was not quick to recommend surgery without getting all details and facts first.

We are very glad we chose to come visit for a second opinion. We understand that sometimes surgery is the best option, but are grateful for doctors who do not immediately jump to that option.

That is the fastest I have been in and out of an appt in a long time. The aspect of not having to wait long periods of time with a 1 year old is very nice and keeps stress levels down for everyone involved.

Our experience was great

Dr. Chisholm and her Nurse were great! Dr. Chisholm took her time with listening to our concerns and care we have done on our own then applied it to better tailor her plan for my child. She took her time to explain procedures, her thoughts on her plan of care, and included us in the decision making. Her Nurse took her time and followed up with scheduling a CT scan for my child, she communicated the delay with contacting to schedule and what her plan was on following up. She asked us preferred days for our follow up, and answered my questions on meds. She said she was new to the department, but she was knowledgeable and kind.
