Dr. Waters always wanted to work with children, and the decision to go into pediatrics was an easy one. She completed her pediatric residency in Tacoma, Washington, at Madigan Army Medical Center. She was a staff pediatrician for several years and eventually served an operational tour overseas as a Brigade Surgeon. Having children of her own with medical conditions that are followed in an Allergy/Immunology department solidified her decision to complete a fellowship. She completed her Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Dr. Waters was always drawn to the complexities of patients with inborn errors of immunity. Dr. Waters later served as the Chief of Brooke Army Medical Center Allergy/Immunology Clinic in San Antonio, Texas. She has remained involved in medical student, resident and fellow graduate medical education throughout her career. She credits these experiences for shaping her into the physician she is today, with a strong desire to educate patients and families about their conditions and solve immunology challenges for families as they arise. Outside of the hospital, she spends her time with family, especially watching her children's many activities. She's the biggest animal lover of all kinds.
