The specialty of Maternal Fetal Medicine provided the ideal intersection of critical care, high risk obstetrics, and caring for sick or compromised babies; I always have at least two (sometimes more) patients that I care for simultaneously. Being able to perform early prenatal diagnoses to families, interventions in certain cases, discuss and offer surgical and/or medical management options, and work together for an ideal outcome for both mother and baby(ies) provides an unmatched level of satisfaction. I also have the extreme honor of being able to care for some patients throughout multiple pregnancies.<br /><br /> Dr. Dunn earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Angelo State University in San Angelo. She then initiated her medical training by attending medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (UTMB). During her third year of medical school, Dr. Dunn encountered Hurricane Ike and was subsequently sent to other facilities to continue her 3rd and 4th year clerkships, including the UTSW's Parkland Hospital and Baylor Scott & White. She then continued her medical training by completing a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at UTMB Galveston.<br /><br /> Following the completion of her training, Dr. Dunn and her husband Marcus began a family and decided to move back to West Texas closer to family. They have resided in Abilene, TX, since July of 2017. Dr. Dunn considers her husband, her son Carter, and her daughter Emory to be the joys of her life and her "greatest accomplishments." In her spare time, Dr. Dunn enjoys running, and can often be found training for a half or full marathon.
