Meet Dr. Damian Campbell

Children know a lot; as a parent of two little boys, my wife and I find that out on a regular basis! They are little sponges that soak up and seek out everything to satisfy their curiosity. They dream, and problem solve without limits to their imagination. To borrow from one of their favorite shows Paw Patrol "no job too big, no pup too small!" They are curious, as we all were at one point, but life has a way of challenging our goals and dreams. However, when the right support and encouragement are timely, we really can achieve all that we can imagine.

My goal for each of my patients is to be that timely support and encouragement; just as I am for my children. I think back on my own relationship, with my pediatrician (shout out to Dr. Frank), as being one of those timely encounters and supporters in life. Without even knowing it, possibly, Dr. Frank influenced my decision to go into the pediatric field.

It was only after attending college -- Sic-Em Bears! -- that I discovered my love for neuroscience. From there, I was fortunate to work with some of Cook Children's very own pediatric neurologists who solidified my desire to pursue a residency in the field. Despite bleeding Green and Gold, I was destined for the land of Burnt Orange, where I worked with, in my opinion, some of the best clinicians in the field of pediatric neurology. I have discovered after working with such individuals that, despite my varied interests, I am a general neurologist at heart.

Outside of medicine, I satisfy my curiosity with books (I am a huge fan of science fiction and mysteries), movies and trying to be a music aficionado. I enjoy playing almost any sport and am admittedly a board game nerd. Most importantly, I enjoy spending as much of my time with my family; I am grateful for their love and support through this journey.

Dr. Campbell and his entire staff were top notch from the moment we checked in, until we left. Dr. Campbell was prompt and so attentive to my daughter so that she was involved entirely with the visit. My daughter tends to shy away from adults she is not familiar with, but his personality and demeanor provided a safe and trusting environment for my daughter so that she was able to open up to him and provide him a clear assessment. He was open ears to me and never made me feel like my concerns were invalid. As a child I complained of headaches and my mom was always told there was no possibility for me to have migraines so young, now into adulthood there was an actual tumor causing my issues which have now thankfully resolved. So when my 4yo complained of headaches daily/weekly since she was 2yo, after doing all I could at home first, I knew deep in my gut I wanted to make sure we weren't missing something like that was done with me. He never once made me feel crazy or as if I was overthinking it and gladly agreed to do a scan to know 100% if it's just hereditary migraines or if there's another cause to the headaches that may would require further intervention. I could write so much more about him and his team, but I will say that I will always recommend him to anyone who is ever looking for a pediatric neurologist, without a doubt. I can not think of a single negative or bad experience that occurred from scheduling to completion of the visit. There was a long wait to get in with him, but honestly in my opinion, he was worth the wait, no doubt.

Every experience we've had at this office has been very positive. The check in lady at front was very helpful. The check in lady at the 3rd floor saw my son was vomiting and she provided a bag. I was impressed. The nurse who came in was very professional and to the point. Loved it.
