Meet Dr. Adedamola Badewa

For Dr. Adedamola Badewa, pediatrics is built on relationships. She strives to create a welcoming environment where children feel comfortable and families feel heard. She believes trust is the foundation of great medical care and takes time to get to know each child and family, recognizing that every family's values, experiences and goals are unique. Her approach combines compassionate, personalized care with open communication and shared decision making, empowering families to ask questions and giving them the knowledge and support to make informed decisions with confidence.

Born in Nigeria, Dr. Badewa moved to the United States as a young child and grew up in Minnesota. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities before completing the Georgetown Experimental Medical Studies (GEMS) program and earning her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the Children's Medical Center - University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) in Dallas, TX, where she cared for children from routine well-child visits to medically complex conditions.

Dr. Badewa has a special interest in breastfeeding and lactation medicine, pediatric mental health, and supporting neurodivergent children and their families. She is currently pursuing certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Having lived in both Nigeria and several regions of the United States has given her a deep appreciation for the many ways families approach parenting, health and culture. She believes every family deserves care that honors their unique background, values and experiences.

Dr. Badewa knew from an early age that she wanted to work with children. Before medical school, she worked as a daycare teacher, operated a babysitting business, and volunteered with children through her church. During medical school, she was inspired by pediatricians whose compassion, advocacy and meaningful relationships with families reinforced that pediatrics was exactly where she belonged. She believes some of the most meaningful moments in pediatrics happen when children and teenagers feel safe enough to simply be themselves. She enjoys partnering with parents as they help their children grow into healthy, confident individuals.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Badewa enjoys mentoring future healthcare professionals and volunteering in community programs that support children and families, including initiatives that expand resources for neurodivergent children. She also enjoys cooking, traveling and spending quality time with her family. As a wife and mother of two young children, she understands both the joys and challenges of parenting, and those experiences continue to shape the empathy and perspective she brings to every patient encounter.

Dr. Badewa is excited to care for families in the Frisco community as part of Cook Children's Physician Network. Above all, she hopes every child and family who walks through her doors leaves knowing they have a pediatrician who will listen, advocate and genuinely care for them.
