Meet Dr. Ankita Singh
Choosing your child's doctor is a major decision and I believe it is essential to know more about me so you can make an educated decision for your loving family.
Journey to Medicine: I was born in India, brought up in Arlington, Texas and enjoyed the simplicity and adventures of being a kid: rollerblading, biking, playing basketball, practicing the violin, dancing and more in the neighborhood and in Arlington schools. I loved my public schooling and progressed to Austin College in Sherman, Texas where I had a wonderful education that prepared me for medical school in Fort Worth at UNTHSC Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. I was fortunate to be a medical scribe a year before my entrance and became close to the amazing Cook Children's Emergency docs who I still talk to and now coming full circle will interact with much more. After my lovely education in Fort Worth, I moved to Michigan to pursue a Pediatrics residency at DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan under the Detroit Wayne Health Authority program. I had wanted to be a pediatrician since 7th grade and here was my chance. Due to this large hospital training, I was able to learn extensively about ill children and I also had skillful training in outpatient clinics that supported the under-served communities. Therefore, I know how to triage acutely ill children and enjoy helping families with resources they are unaware of in the community. Following my training I had a fulfilling pediatric position at a non-profit multi-provider clinic working for IHA in Brighton, Michigan. I enjoyed every bit of it, teaching students while I took care of my resilient, sweet patients. My husband and I decided to move back to where it all started shortly after his medical training ended which brought me back to Cook Children's.
A little bit about me: Besides having one of the best professions as a pediatrician, I am a mother of two sweet boys and a lovable shih-poo. I am also a wife to a loving husband who is so supportive even with his busy life in the medical field. I enjoy learning on the daily from my sons, who are a better teacher than any textbook. My motto is to "whistle while you work" as I am all about positivity. My goal is to put a smile on your face throughout our time together. I take pleasure in throwing get togethers, enjoying time with family and friends, traveling, dancing, swimming, exercising, sports (GO COWBOYS), and having a fondness for music and arts. I did play violin from 5th grade into my college years so it has stuck with me. Don't worry though, you will see me dancing to good R&B, Pop and Hip Hop and even some Indian Bollywood music.
Why a pediatrician: Why did you choose to become a pediatrician, people ask. It's because I absolutely love the pure innocence of little ones and enjoy helping children and young adults achieve their best health potential with the help of their families. I strongly believe that taking care of my patients is a collaborative effort. Parents and caretakers know these children the best and I am here to help guide them towards a healthy and happy life. I am all about education, prevention and specifically enjoy medical topics such as asthma and allergies. I take pleasure in teaching patients as well as students. Medicine is a journey of continued education and I am happy to be a part of it.
I am accepting new patients and welcome expectant parents to meet me in the office before delivery to get to know each other. I hope to play an important role in your child's life.

Dr. Ankita and the nurse, whose name slips my mind at the moment, truly made our visit exceptional. Their patience in addressing our questions put us at ease, creating a comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Ankita's calm demeanor provided us with a comprehensive overview of what to anticipate until our next appointment, along with guidance on handling any unexpected situations. The nurse's administration of vaccines was carried out with utmost professionalism. Our overall experience was delightful, and I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend Cooks Hospital, Dr. Ankita, and her dedicated team.
