Accepting new patients
Choosing pediatrics was an EASY choice for me. Pediatrics was the only specialty that I looked forward to seeing my patients each morning and checking in on them at the end of the day. I am drawn to their constant source of energy, how easily engaging they are, and admire their resilience. Being a pediatrician has been a great pleasure and I look forward to establishing long lasting relationships with my patients and their families.
I was born and raised in the great city of Houston, Texas and attended Baylor University for my undergraduate degree. I completed medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin and returned to Texas to complete my pediatric training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I worked in Northern Virginia, at a private practice and found the most joy reassuring parents of newborns, singing songs with rambunctious toddlers, and having heart to heart talks with teens.
I spend my free time having dance sessions with my two toddlers, reading a good book, and listening to music – especially Beyonce. I can easily be bribed with a Reese's Cup and start each day with Starbucks!

I appreciate that Dr.Lawal takes her time to listen to my son's questions and concerns. As an adolescent, he is working on transitioning in advocating for himself when it comes to his medical care, and it was great seeing him be comfortable to have a conversation about his care. She's wonderful!

Dr. Lawal has been my sons pediatrician since he was born. He is her first patient with [...] syndrome and she does a great job listening to our concerns and helping us navigate the medical field and referring him to specialists to help manage his symptoms caused by his condition.
