Meet Dr. Matthew Lussier
Matthew Lussier was greatly influenced by his father, a mechanic, from a young age to do something he loved that was hands on. Weekends were often filled with working on cars or DIY projects around the house. This fueled Dr. Lussier's passion for understanding how and why things work. He attended UC San Diego and received a bachelor's degree in Bioengineering. He and his high school sweetheart were married shortly after graduation.
During college he participated in a volunteer program that allowed him to spend an extended period on an acute rehabilitation floor. He saw patients of all ages work with doctors, nurses, and a team of therapists to heal from various conditions. His favorite experience was helping in a young athlete's journey to recover from an accident where he learned how to walk and talk again. It was that experience that showed him the tenacity of the human spirit and the miracles a unified team could be a part of.
Between medical school and undergraduate studies, Dr. Lussier attended Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont CA where he received a master's degree in Biosciences focusing his studies on pharmaceutical development and therapies.
Dr. Lussier fell in love with pediatrics in medical school shortly after he and his wife welcomed home their first son. His favorite moments outside of school were volunteering in children's ministry at church, often tasked with running his son and the other toddlers' energy out. Some of his closest mentors while in training were his son's pediatric team. He was amazed at their depth of knowledge which was matched by their love and compassion for their patients. Dr. Lussier's passion for pediatrics deepened while in residency as many of the children and families he cared for in the hospital trusted him to be their provider in the outpatient clinic, affirming his desire to enter primary care. His goal is to always be a trusted source of knowledge and compassion for his patients and their families by combining his background as a parent and engineer into his practice of medicine.
Dr. Lussier and his wife were blessed with a second son while in residency and have 2 dogs to fill their home. Dr. Lussier is an Army Reservist and is looking forward to serving our nation's warriors and their families in the DFW metroplex. When not serving on a weekend you can find Dr. Lussier enjoying various sports live or on screen (Formula 1 in particular), baking fresh sourdough or pastries in the oven, or adventuring with his boys.
