Meet Dr. Suzanne Hood

Hi! I'm Dr. Hood, I'm excited to tell you a little more about me! I was born in South Africa, but moved to Texas at the age of 15. I completed my education at Abilene Christian University, followed by medical school at the UNT Health Science Center. I then completed my residency training at Santa Rosa Children's Hospital.

For the past four years, I've been serving as a missionary overseas in Kijabe, Kenya. I have learned more about practicing medicine in a low-resource setting, a little Swahili, and quite a bit about monkey proofing my home.

Working with children is something that has always brought me joy. I love children's' energy, their curiosity and their honesty which can often bring out a laugh.

I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two daughters together. I'm excited to help build a connected health care plan for your child and to help you ensure they grow up to be happy and healthy.

We are very pleased overall with our visit. This was our first time at Cooks Children with a recent move. We are so happy to have found Cooks Children and Dr. Hood. She was so easy to talk to, respectful and what stood out the most was she took our daughters shyness into consideration when doing her examination. She spoke directly to our daughter and allowed for proper responses and time. We look forward to continuing our care with Dr. Hood for all well child and sick visits. Thank you for being so great and easing a new patient and parent's anxiety!

Maria the medical assistant that took (patient's) vitals was very sweet with her. (Patient) was very nervous, and Maria helped her calm down by playing a little game with her while getting her vitals. She was also very kind to me while asking the initial questions. Dr. Hood was also very good with her even though she was anxious. She was able to calm (patient's) fears and get her taken care of quickly, and she made her feel so brave when it was all done.

We are always greeted nicely when we come into this clinic. The front desk staff and those who answer the phones are so kind and respectful, even when very busy. Makes visits much more manageable for our family and our anxious kiddos.

All of the staff was wonderful and I felt like Dr Hood took the time to get to know us and make sure any questions we had were answered. It made me feel very comfortable with my children being seen there.
