Meet Karen Onyirioha
After visiting family for the first time in Nigeria, Dr. Karen Onyirioha knew that practicing medicine was her calling. She witnessed how poor healthcare was in her father's native country and was sadden by the lack of access to medicine she saw her family members endure during subsequent visits.
Dr. Onyirioha saw firsthand what lacking access to healthcare meant for patients and their families and knew that catering to communities in need was where she wanted to spend her medical career. "It is not enough to just have access to healthcare, but it is important to also trust the individuals providing the care you seek."
Dr. Onyirioha completed her medical education at UT-Southwestern Medical Center Dallas and went on to complete her residency at Children's Health in Dallas. After graduating residency, she spent five years practicing and serving the community in South Dallas. She has a passion for newborn care/medicine, as well as adolescent medicine. She enjoys working with patients and their family on creating nutritional goals to help manage childhood obesity.
During her free time, Dr. Onyirioha enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and participating in various challenges. She also enjoys running and fitness, and has completed more than 6 half marathons.
