Meet Dr. Laura Lachman

Dr. Lachman is a dedicated pediatric physiatrist, and was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Despite leaving Texas to pursue various parts of her education, she is thrilled to finally settle back in her great home state.

Dr. Lachman decided to pursue a career in medicine, specifically physiatry, after personal experience with her grandfather. The exceptional care he received left a lasting impression on her and continues to influence her approach to patient care. She chose pediatric physiatry because she loves working with children and believes there is no greater act of service than helping patients with physical and cognitive impairments achieve the highest possible level of independence in daily life.

She has a deep connection to the patient population she treats, particularly enjoying the challenge and reward of treating conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spasticity and dystonia. She is also skilled in performing Botox injections for managing spasticity and dystonia. Over the course of her career, her patients have taught her the importance of resilience and the impact of compassionate care.

The most rewarding aspect of Dr. Lachman's job is seeing the progress her patients make and knowing that she has played a part in improving their quality of life. She is committed to advancing care and actively participates in teaching families better health strategies.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Lachman enjoys exploring new restaurants, spending time with family and friends, reading and traveling. Her personal interests help her maintain a balanced life and bring a sense of fulfillment to her work. Dr. Lachman is excited to be part of Cook Children's, where she feels she can make a significant impact and continue to grow both personally and professionally.
