Meet Dr. Sani Roy
Dr. Sani Roy was thrilled to join the Cook Children's family in 2016, and she cares for children with a variety of common and complex endocrine disorders. Dr. Roy values educating, encouraging, and empowering her patients and their families.
Dr. Roy grew up in the Dallas area and she knew from a young age that her calling in life was to be a doctor. As a child, she loved using the tools from her doctor kit to make her family and friends feel better. She rediscovers that same childhood joy each day as she cares for her patients.
During her medical school and residency training at UT Southwestern, Dr. Roy discovered her fascination with endocrinology and her passion for pediatric patients. Dr. Roy then spent three years training in pediatric endocrinology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was heavily involved in both clinical care and a number of academic endeavors including presenting her research at numerous local and national scientific conferences. In 2015, Dr. Roy was a recipient of the Endocrine Society's Endocrine Scholars Award in Growth Hormone Research. She received a Certificate of Clinical Research from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Roy has published many papers in the areas of childhood growth and body composition and written textbook chapters on pediatric obesity and metabolic syndrome. She has been named for several years as a Texas Monthly Super Doctor-Rising Star. Dr. Roy received an Endowed Chair from Cook Children's in 2022 for Prader-Willi syndrome. In addition to serving as the director of the Multidisciplinary Prader-Willi Wellness, Education, and Research Center, Dr. Roy continues to see patients with all varieties of endocrine conditions. She cherishes the connections she forms with her patients and families as much as she loves evaluating and caring for their endocrine medical needs.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Roy enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys by relaxing at home, exploring a local park, or sampling the great culinary options in DFW (especially Tex-Mex). She is an accomplished singer and also enjoys yoga, tennis, being involved with her church community, and traveling across the United States to visit her large extended family.

It was obvious Dr. Roy took time to review our daughter's file before the appointment. She asked about concerns we had the previous appointment. She also asked our daughter if she was still participating in [...] which she had talked about in previous appointments. I appreciate this and know that we have the very best doctor. Dr. Roy is a wonderful and thoughtful doctor. She always takes the time to explain everything and answer all of our questions.

Nurse Rebecca was absolutely incredible from start to finish! Her calm confidence, kindness, joyful disposition, willingness to answer attentively, her direct interaction w/my daughter, her care for her comfort. I cannot say enough good to express how very grateful we were to have her. There was also a very lovely lady, I think her name was Brenda?? She was w/Life?? It's a network to support the kiddos & family. I'm sorry I can't recall her name right now. My child absolutely adored her! She introduced the buzzy w/wings, spoke directly to her & answered every question & curiosity she has. Genuinely she was outstanding. Our child has already asked to see her again. Dr. Roy did briefly stop in to check on us. She was very kind, answered my questions, & only added to an experience that was nerve racking at the thought of but went so incredibly peaceful.
