When your child's condition is life threatening or might cause permanent harm, it is safer for your child to be transported via ambulance. Cook Children's emergency services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Parking and entrance information
If you are driving to Cook Children's Emergency Room, please park directly across the street, in the lot at the southwest corner of 6th and Terrell. After parking, please cross the street and go up the ramp to our patient entrance where we will help you get signed in.
Cook Children's Emergency Department (ED) treats more than 105,000 patients every year. Our ED is the only EMS-designated pediatric trauma center in Tarrant County. Now, thanks to years of dedication and hard work, Cook Children's Medical Center has reached Level II Trauma Designation from the American College of Surgeons and the Department of State Health Services. Cook Children's Medical Center is one of nine such facilities in the state of Texas.
If your child does not have life-threatening symptoms, find Cook Children's urgent care centers located across the metroplex. Our urgent care centers offer expert, pediatric-trained staff for patients from birth to 21 years.
Cook Children's Medical Center team is made up of physicians and nurses who are very experienced in pediatric emergency care. Additionally, the emergency departments are supported by Teddy Bear Transport, one of the busiest transport programs in the U.S.. More than 3,500 children are transported to Cook Children's Medical Center annually, most for critical care. Transport vehicles include a helicopter*, jet*, fixed-wing plane* and five ambulances. Each are equipped to transport critical care patients and feature pediatric-oriented technology.
Cook Children's Emergency Services provides consultations for referring physicians and access to specialty and subspecialty consultations.
*Teddy Bear Transport aircraft are operated by Metro Aviation, Shreveport, La.
