Non-Cancerous Conditions and Predisposition Syndrome
Not all tumors are cancerous, but some non-cancerous tumors require treatment if they disrupt other functions of your child's body. We also offer genetic testing for certain children who may not have cancer, but may be at risk if there is a strong family history of cancer.
Non-cancerous conditions we treat
The pediatric specialists at Cook Children's treat a wide variety of noncancerous conditions. The most common are:
- Benign tumors
- Histiocytic diseases
- Vascular malformations and hemangiomas
Cancer predisposition syndromes
As knowledge and availability of genetic testing grows, more genes and syndromes that may predispose children to cancers are being identified. In coordination with our geneticists and genetic counselors, we provide care and routine cancer surveillance studies when indicated for children with genetic predisposition to cancer.
We are here to help.
