uses sound waves to create images. Ultrasound does not use radiation.</p> <p>An abdominal or renal ultrasound is useful for imaging of organs and soft tissues. It is used to take "pictures" inside of the body of different organs such as the gall bladder, kidneys, liver, pancreas, spleen and urinary bladder.</p> <p>During the exam, your child will lie on a soft. The sonographer will place lotion on your child's skin; this will help the ultrasound camera glide smoothly across the skin. The ultrasound camera is small and looks like a computer mouse. Patients are required to remain still during the ultrasound. It does not hurt and sometimes tickles.
