the education department
As health care continues to rapidly advance, the Education Department plays a pivotal role in Cook Children's mission of improving the health status of all children. We work to make sure that health care professionals at Cook Children's Health Care System--as well as in the community--have the education, training and expertise needed to care for children.
For the community, the Education Department provides regularly scheduled classes in Pediatric First Aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and asthma management to help family members and child care workers. We also offer two School Nurse Symposiums each summer. These symposiums educate school nurses in symptoms and current treatments in childhood illnesses such as asthma and epilepsy and other topics such as diet, sports injuries, and when to go to the emergency room.
On campus, our multi-disciplinary Education staff promotes safety and patient-centered care. Always working toward excellence in education, we work collaboratively with departmental leadership teams to find innovative ways to keep the staff up to date on new procedures and equipment and to encourage individual and organizational development.
