System Credentialing and Medical Staff Services

Cook Children's Medical Staff Services Department is available to support our Professional Medical Staff and to provide demographic information about staff members to all hospital departments.

Our comprehensive cooperative System Credentials Department verifies that the practitioners of the participating organizations possess the credentials, including training and experience, to provide patients with the quality of care consistent with Cook Children's promise.

About our team

Medical Staff Services is responsible for the management and support of the professional staff organization. Duties include the management and coordination of all medical staff committee meetings, and medical staff functions, such as the annual Physician Appreciation Dinner held in October and the Physician/Family Holiday Party held in December. Medical Staff Services publishes a monthly medical staff meeting calendar and medical staff newsletter and annually publishes the listing of Professional Staff Officers and Committee Chairs.

The Medical Staff Services/Credentialing Department is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of Joint Commission, NCAQ and TDI Standards along with other regulatory entities and the Professional Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations to ensure that healthcare providers adhere to quality regulations and policies.
