Legal Help for Patient Families
At Cook Children's, we do more than just treat the patient. We focus on family-centered care because we know that's vital to a child's well-being. Our staff helps our patient families in times of physical, emotional and financial stress.
Unfortunately, we know legal issues can directly impact an individual's health and access to care. That's why Cook Children's recently partnered with Texas A&M University School of Law.
Through this medical-legal partnership, we aim to help our patient families address certain legal needs, such as those pertaining to:
- Guardianship
- Housing
- Public benefits
- Veterans affairs
- Family law
- Immigration
Through this FREE program, an expert team is available to help families find answers, obtain direction and receive services for certain legal matters. The staff is skilled at helping parents access public benefits and handle other legal issues related to their child's health conditions.
Who's eligible for help?
We are able to assist Cook Children's patient families if their income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level or if they are eligible for Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
