Family Centered Care
Family is the center of a child's whole world. Parents and family members are the source of a child's strength, courage and comfort. This is especially true when a child is injured, ill or physically or mentally challenged. At Cook Children's, our family-centered care approach means that families become partners with us in their child's care. Studies have shown that active parent participation – learning, asking questions and providing input – can improve the overall quality of care and safety for the child.
Anytime a child is ill or injured, it can be very stressful for a child. And when a child has a major illness or long-term condition, it can impact the entire family physically, emotionally and financially. Our Palliative Care team understands your concerns, fears and daily challenges, which is why we include you in the care of your child. As a member of your child's health care team, you'll have the knowledge and support you need to make informed decisions and choices that are right for your child and family.
You'll also find support, comfort and resources for child and entire family. From Child Life specialists and social services to activities, sibling support and more, these programs are designed to help ease the way along your journey.
