Quadruplets Make History

Mom and dad with quadruplets in Cook Children’s NICU, each holding 2 babies - 3 boys and 1 girl

When Catie Pulsifer, a psychiatric nurse in the Behavioral Health Unit at Cook Children's, learned she was expecting multiples, she was prepared for a challenging but exciting journey. After giving birth in January 2024, her quadruplets were transported to the Cook Children's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where they received expert care in the special "quad room." Staffed with a dedicated team of nurses who cared for the “quad squad” around the clock, the Pulsifer babies quickly captured the hearts of the NICU staff. Even though Catie didn't work in this unit, she and her family knew the babies were receiving the highest caliber of care being in the Cook Children's system.

After eight weeks in the NICU, the quad squad was able to go home. Life with four newborns was a whirlwind, but Catie and her husband, Cameron, found a rhythm, with their older children, Allie and Robin, ages 3 and 5, helping with bottles or pacifiers. The quads are the first set seen at Cook Children's in over a decade, and caring for Catie, a dedicated part of our Cook Children's medical team, makes this story even more meaningful.
