Maternal Fetal Machine
A Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) program is now available in Abilene to support at-risk pregnancies throughout West Texas. MFM specialists care for women facing higher-risk situations, such as carrying multiples, managing chronic health conditions or having a history of complications during pregnancy. Our team brings years of experience in handling these complex situations.
Because this program is part of the Cook Children’s network, patients are connected to more than 120 specialties and subspecialties, if needed. That means access to experts in heart care, genetics, neonatal care and many other fields in the same health care system.
If a fetal anomaly is discovered during the first appointment, the MFM team works with the family to develop a clear care plan. This can include coordinating with the delivery hospital, arranging visits with other specialists and determining whether an MFM physician should be present during birth.
The Cook Children’s MFM program ensures that moms and babies in West Texas can access timely, specialized care without having to travel far.
