Mended Little Hearts Support Group
Mended Little Hearts – A family support group for patients with congenital heart disease (CHD)
An estimated 20,000 to 25,000 babies are born each year with varying degrees of CHD. In most cases, a cause for the cardiac abnormality cannot be determined. There are many types of congenital heart defects. The defects result from failure of the infant's heart or major blood vessels near the heart to develop normally.
Support
Mended Little Hearts is a support group for parents of children with congenital heart defects. This parent-led group provides a way for parents to talk one-on-one with each other, sharing their experiences, concerns and questions. Through collaboration with the medical center, there are sometimes guest speakers such as CV nurses, ICU staff, O.R. nurses, CV surgeons, cardiologists or Child Life staff to answer questions parents may have related to CV surgery and the care of their child.
