Tri My Best Triathlon
The Tri My Best Triathlon is hosted by Cook Children’s Rehabilitation Services each fall. Children and young adults with developmental disabilities in Fort Worth aged 4-18 are invited to participate. It is a swim/bike/run event for children with special needs, including those who use adaptive bikes, walkers and wheelchairs.
How is the triathlon organized?
Participants are organized by their endurance and assistance needs. Groups rotate through the bike, swim and run/wheel/walk events with an award ceremony to finish! Buddies are assigned to all participants to help and cheer them on. There are dedicated family observation areas at each event.
Bike:Children will ride one to four laps outdoors. You can bring your own bike or borrow an adaptive tricycle. All children must wear a helmet.
Swim:Children swim one lap indoors with assistance available. All children must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vest for the swimming. Only one family member is allowed on the pool deck.
Run:Children run/walk/wheel one to four laps inside.
