Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer
September 2022 | Cook Children's receives tremendous support from the community, whether it's financially or volunteered time. Our volunteers and donors, of all ages, come from all walks-of-life, and give from their hearts.
The "sweet" student council of The Leadership Academy at Maude I. Logan Elementary School showed an enormous amount of generosity! They sponsored a penny drive for the Cook Children's Hematology and Oncology Center and raised $323. Students learned the value of giving back. "One Logan Love," became the motto for raising funds for the Cook Children's Hematology and Oncology Center in honor of a fellow student's battle with cancer.
The students raised money by selling "candy grams" and encouraging students to donate to a penny drive, in which each grade level competed to give the most money. "Kindergarten raised the most money," said Denise Valdez, student council secretary. "Our gift to them was a popcorn party and a movie."
"You can help others if you are kind. You can always support others," said Kendall Rougeau, a class representative. "All you have to do is try, and don't give up."
We are so thankful for the awesome students at the Maude I. Logan Leadership Academy for raising funds for kids fighting cancer in spring 2022!
