Volunteers Make a Difference for Patients, Families and YOU
September 2022 | We pride ourselves with having the most amazing people who dedicate their time to Cook Children's patients, families and Our Promise. We recognize these volunteer contributions made every day in 2022 and say Thank you. We had 23,841 hours donated by 488 volunteers, which translates to a monetary donation of $556,486 and 19 full time employees if Cook Children's had to cover the work.
We even recruited 183 brand new volunteers this year! Volunteers work in the Stitch-A-Wish program, Family Advisory Councils, Lend-a-Hand projects, camps and the Yak-Pak. The Youth Advisory Council-Patients Advising for Change (YAC-PAC) is a group of current and former patients (6-12 grade) who work with hospital staff, sharing their perspective and suggestions to create a hospital environment that meets their needs, emotionally as well as physically.
Our volunteers affected patient family lives by escorting visitors, reading books, playing games, comforting little ones, educating parents on infant safety and helping in the gift shop. We awarded 12 of these volunteers this year for their outstanding service!
