From childhood cancer to compassionate caregiver
As a seventh grader in Midland, Texas, Chelsee Greer, D.O., was an athlete and a dedicated student, until her world shifted when she received a diagnosis with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Her family made the long drive to Cook Children's in Fort Worth for chemotherapy, a pivotal journey that defined the direction of her future.
Now, Dr. Greer leads the Neuroblastoma Program at the Cook Children's Hematology and Oncology Center, the same hospital that helped her through her battle. Having been a patient herself, she brings a unique level of empathy to her work. While she deeply understands the fears and challenges her patients face, she is careful not to compare their experiences to her own, recognizing that each journey is different.
Dr. Greer often tells her patients that cancer is just a big speed bump in life. While the journey may feel overwhelming, they can get to the other side and continue thriving. Known for her incredible work ethic, Dr. Greer gives each child the attention and care they deserve, helping them navigate their challenges with the same determination that carried her through her own battle. For her, every day at Cook Children's feels like a full-circle moment, where she has the chance to help others overcome obstacles just as she once did.
