How to Invite Caregiver using the Dexcom Follow
The Dexcom Follow shares your child’s blood sugar readings with other caregivers (such as a school nurse). Before starting, make sure that
- You have set up a Dexcom dependent account for your child.
- The patient's Dexcom sensor is already paired with their phone.
- The follower has installed the Dexcom Follow app on their phone / tablet (iOS/Android).
Next, follow the steps for either the Dexcom G7 or Dexcom G6.
If you’re using the Dexcom G7:
- Open the Dexcom G7 app. Select "Connections."
- Select "Share."
- If this is your first time on the share page, read the disclaimers. Then click "Next." Press "Invite Follower."
- Enter the follower's nickname or select "Choose from contacts" if they're already in your contacts. Then click "Next."
- Enter the follower's email address and click "Next."
- Set up a few options:
- If the follower should see a graph of the blood sugar readings
- When to tell the follower your child’s blood sugar is high or low
- Other alerts the follower will get
- Then select “Next.”
- Your app will send the follower an email invitation.
- The follower should click the "Accept invitation" link within the email.
If you’re using the Dexcom G6:
- Open the Dexcom G6 app. Select "Share.”
- If this is your first time sending an invitation, select "Let's get started." Read the disclaimers, then select "Next."
- Click on "Add Followers."
- Enter the follower's name and email address twice. Or select "Get from Contacts" if the follower is in your phone contacts.
- Set up a few options:
- if the follower should see a graph of the blood sugar readings
- when to tell the follower your child’s blood sugar is high or low
- other alerts the follower will get
- Then select “Next.”
- Your app will send the follower an email invitation.
- The follower should click the "Accept invitation" link within the email.
