Dietician on staff
The Nephrology Clinic at Cook Children's has a dietitian on staff to help you and your child – and for the matter, your family – with nutrition needs. When your child is in the clinic, the nephrologist may ask the dietitian to see your child in order to provide nutrition recommendations that can help manage your child's condition.
Our dietitians are available to:
- Understand your child's energy and protein goals.
- Make sure your child is growing well.
- Understand how much sodium, potassium, phosphorus and fluid your child should have and help you modify your child's diet to meet these needs.
- Identify the right types of vitamin and mineral supplements for your child.
- Monitor and make changes to your child's tube feeding.
