Child Life Specialist Observation Experience

Thank you for your interest in observing our child life department. Our child life staff enjoy sharing knowledge of the profession and mentoring students who are pursuing a career as a certified child life specialist. Please review the important information below.

Pre-requisites REQUIRED for child life student observations:

  • Individuals must be a current hospital volunteer who completed 50 volunteer hours.

OR

  • Individuals must be in a child life academic program and have completed their child life course or are currently in their child life course.

An observation experience in child life is designed for individuals who are:

  • Exploring a career in child life to become a certified child life specialist.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Current on immunizations, including Flu, MMR and Varicella.
    • Proof required.
  • Able to provide proof of current health/medical insurance coverage.
  • Not intending to use this experience for credit toward a medical school or a formal academic program that requires clinical hours and/or preceptorships in which they are currently actively enrolled.
