How to Create a Dexcom Account and Pair with G7 or G6 App

To get started, read about the different apps you’ll need:
- Dexcom G7 (iOS/Android) or G6 (iOS/Android) pairs with your child’s Dexcom sensor. Use the version that matches your child’s sensor (G7 or G6). If your child has a phone, install this app on their phone. If they do not, install it on your phone.
- Dexcom Clarity (iOS/Android) sends your child’s blood sugar readings to their doctor. If your child has a phone, install this app on their phone. If they do not, install it on your phone.
- Dexcom Follow (iOS/Android) allows you or others to view your child’s blood sugar readings. Only followers need this app. If the Dexcom G7 or G6 app is on your child’s phone, you can install Dexcom Follow.
Install the apps you need on the correct phones.
Open your Dexcom (G7 or G6) app.
Select “Create Account.”
Select the “Sign Up” tab.
Select “New Dexcom Account.”
Create the Parent/Caregiver account first. Enter your own information (not your child’s). You will have your own username and password. You need the Parent/Caregiver account even if the app is on your child’s phone.
Select “Add a Dependent” and continue.
Login
Fill out your child’s information. Create a unique username and password. Save your child’s login information. You will need it when pairing the app with the sensor. Do not login to the parent account when pairing the sensor.
Complete the signup for your child.
Go back to the home screen.
Login with your child’s username and password.
You will see instructions and tips on how to place the sensor along and how to use the app.
Place the sensor safely on your child’s skin.
Either scan the QR code on the sensor’s applicator or enter the 4 digit code. The app will begin looking for the sensor.
Keep the device close to the sensor during this time. Within 30 seconds, the app should find the sensor.
Follow the app’s instructions. You will see the main screen of the Dexcom sensor. The sensor can take a few minutes to warm up. If it has been less than 30 minutes since placing the sensor, the app will show you how much time is left until readings will show.
That is it! You have successfully setup and paired your child’s Dexcom sensor with the Dexcom G7 app.
